How to Get to Huangshan from Shanghai
 

4 ways to get to Huangshan from Shanghai: by flight, bullet train, regular train or bus (See also Bus Timetable from Huangshan to Shanghai).

There is a daily flight from Shanghai to Huangshan in the afternoon, but back to Shanghai in the evening. It takes just one hour to get to Tunxi, downtown of Huangshan City. The airfare is RMB580, plus another RMB50 as airport fee.

From July the 1st, 2015, bullet trains are available from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to Huangshan.

It takes about 11 hours to get to Huangshan City by regular train. One of the advantages of overnight train (Train K8418 departing Shanghai Railway Station at 20:14 and arriving at Tunxi at 07:11) is that it saves you the cost of one night accommodation and allows you a full day exploration of Yellow Mountains after your arrival. The price of a soft sleeper is RMB264 while a hard sleeper costs RMB173.

Hard sleeper from Shanghai to Huangshan costs RMB174 (lower berth) while soft sleeper costs RMB264 (lower berth) .

If you don't want to spend night on the train, public bus would be your good choice. It's faster (about 5 hours to get to Tunxi) and cheaper than train (busfare RMB135). There are 7 buses from Shanghai South Bus Station (located on No. 666 Shilong Road) to Huangshan City everyday, among which 4 buses departing at 06:28, 07:58, 10:12 and 14:14 will reach Tangkou, a small village near Huangshan scenic area, in the end after making a stop in Tunxi, downtown of Huangshan City. Another 3 buses departing at 08:38, 15:18 and 15:58 terminate in Tunxi only. The bus ticket price is RMB135. Inquiry of Shanghai South Bus Station: 021-54353535
